The Indian tourism and hospitality industry has emerged as one of the key drivers of growth among the services sector in India. Tourism in India has significant potential considering the rich cultural and historical heritage, variety in ecology, terrains and places of natural beauty spread across the country. Tourism is also a potentially large employment generator besides being a significant source of foreign exchange for the country. During January-April 2018 FEEs from tourism increased 17.4 per cent year-on-year to US$ 10.62 billion.
About the program
This program is about arranging for, storing and managing food resources in the kitchen for uninterrupted operations, cooking variety of foods as per the eatery’s menu, and communicating effectively with superiors, colleagues and customers to achieve a smooth workflow. It also covers the ways of understanding customer requirements, market standards of service, assessing scheduled services and those that are unscheduled but can be offered, and conveying or executing it in a manner that results in customer satisfaction, maintaining standard etiquette at workplace and achieving customer satisfaction, following gender sensitivity for treating different genders and age groups of tourists or local customers such as women, men, children and senior citizens by offering them service as per their typical and collective requirements as well as treating women with respect and ensuring personal and material security and at all times, securing intellectual property rights (IPR) of the company and respecting customer’s copyright, maintaining hygiene and health at tourist spots, hospitality units, roadside eateries and retail.
